I come from a pitch playing family. I learned how to play pitch at a young age, along with my sisters. At every family gathering we would (will) play pitch if we have enough people. Usually 13-point pitch, but a few years ago we started branching into 4-point pitch as well. Even my nieces and nephews are learning and starting to play as well! So after the winter holidays, Justin had the idea of creating a pitch game that just he and I could play, since we don’t live super close to my family and aren’t able to play often. We created a 4-point pitch, but Falter style. Ready for…

Vote Fuck No.
A few weeks ago I shared a friends thoughts on everything happening with women’s rights. Now it’s time for mine. A letter to the people with a ‘Vote Yes’ sign in your yard: I don’t know who you are. You are a complete stranger to me. I don’t know your names or how old you are. I don’t know where you are from or what you do for a living. I don’t know your kid’s names…or if you even have kids. I don’t know what you do for fun, what your favorite color is, or your favorite food. I know NOTHING about you. And do you know what? You know…

The Day I Woke Up With More Rights Than I Went to Bed With.
Currently, while I can’t be forced (alive or dead) to donate my liver, or blood, or marrow, my womb is public domain.

What Did I Just Do?!
I just deleted Facebook and Instagram from my phone. I was doing some research on blogging and how to not give a fuck if someone doesn’t like what I say when I came upon this article: https://markmanson.net/not-giving-a-fuck. It said…. If you find yourself consistently giving too many fucks about trivial shit that bothers you, chances are you don’t have much going on in your life to give a legitimate fuck about. And that’s your real problem. I had been working on something I found frustrating on Instagram when, thanks to this article, I realized I’m not putting my fucks towards legitimate things. (Sorry mama-in-law for all the f-bombs!). So instead,…

Make Your Bed.
Whenever I have a day that just feels out of control or anxious, there is one thing I can do that helps turn it around. I make my bed. I turn off my brain and focus on tucking back in the sheet, on smoothing out a comforter, on fluffing up a pillow. That one simple thing can help smooth my anxiety. Almost a “look at this proof that I can accomplish something”. You don’t have to have ten different pillows, super cute throws, nothing fancy. Turn off the Instagram envy and simply make the bed that you have. Plus, it feels so good when you crawl into a freshly made…

Motherhood.
It’s been a rough week. Justin and I were both sick with different things. Grandma took the baby one night so we could completely rest because he wasn’t sleeping great. Took baby to doctor and found out he has an ear infection. It’s been one thing after another. Tonight though… We came home from daycare. Since Silas is officially 6 months old, I decided to feed him some incredibly gross banana baby food. *shudder* He got a bath, since the medicine for the ear infection is causing some nasty side effects to come out of his body, I thought it would be nice to have some soothing warm water to…

Lubalin: Internet Drama Song Guy.
Let’s start by saying I am not a TikTok person. I have no desire to ever make a TikTok video and I can barely figure out how to watch fun videos on the app. I tend to watch most of the funny ones on a friend’s Instagram story (thanks Ashley!). Well she had shared a video that someone called Lubalin had made and I probably watched it 50 times. I was crying it was so funny. It was amazing. That video went everywhere and he even made a video with Alison Brie and Jimmy Fallon. He makes music videos based on internet drama and it’s brilliant. So brilliant. I want…

Family Traditions.
I love thinking about family traditions. We had a couple when I was growing up that may not have even been a true ‘tradition’ but now that I’m older I miss them. Especially now that we have a child, in the back of my mind I am always thinking about what traditions we can create with him. Christmas Eve One thing I absolutely loved was on Christmas Eve. My two sisters and I would sit on the floor in front of my dad (or I would be in his lap when I was very young) and he would read us ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Then the three of us…

My Favorite Things (January Edition).
Smart SweetsI actually get these from our grocery store because it’s cheaper than the website. I wish our grocery store carried more of them, but so far they only have these, and we’ve tried them all: Peach Rings: I love these! Sweet Fish: We loved these, but eventually started to get tired of them Sour Blast Buddies: Still obsessed with these. They are so freaking good!! Sweet Chews: These were disgusting. Seriously. Gross. We spit them out in the trash. Sheila G’s Chocolate Chip Brownie BrittleHeaven in my mouth. That’s all I can say. I tend to buy more than one bag of this at a time so I know…

5 am Wake-Up Call.
Now that I am done with maternity leave and back at work (which means I’m really missing naps), I have started waking up at 5 am. And yes, ‘started’ is the correct word choice since I’ve only been doing this for a week (maybe longer by the time I actually publish this post). The getting out of bed part is difficult some mornings. We have a very comfortable bed. I’ve discovered the secret for me is to not turn off my alarm until I am standing next to said bed. Said bed. Boom. Poetry. Also, I should probably stop saying ‘boom’ all the time…. Anyways, once I’m up I absolutely…
