• A Sinking Ship.

I don’t often write, or talk, about politics. To be honest I don’t actually know that much about it. My history and government classes in school sucked and I never paid much attention. Now, however, I wish I had. Please excuse my harsh language, but if you don’t like what our President is doing…tough shit. Then get the f*** out. Yes, America is the country of free speech and now it’s my turn. I was so hoping that once the election was over everyone would just shut up. But no! They didn’t. I still have to see it on Facebook and Twitter, on the news. I did not vote for…

  • How Do They Do It?

This is a question for the ladies. How do you do it? How do you always manage to look so put together? I just don’t understand. Yes you, with the perfect red lips and high heels. The straight, silky hair or the gorgeous waves. The un-chipped fingernail polish and clean looking clothes. The flawless eyeliner! Seriously. I have tried. Red lips? Gone within 5 minutes, maybe 10 on a good day. Then I am just left with that weird red outline. High heels? Screaming feet and ankles…also probably within 5 minutes. Hair? Let’s not talk about that. 10 minutes after I paint my nails a chunk of the paint is…

  • 28 Miles for 28 Years.

28 Mi 4 28 Yrs. When I turn 28 in a month and a half I will begin another challenge. 28 miles for 28 years. I will try to enter walks, 5Ks, three-legged races, whatever sounds like fun to go 28 miles while I am 28. A co-worker mentioned this today and it sounded rather like fun, so I have decided to try it. Anyone care to join me? “Until you commit your goals to paper, you have intentions that are seeds without soil.”

  • Pizza, French Fries, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

PIZZA. French Fries. Chocolate Chip Cookies (or just the dough). These are at least three of my favorite things. However, I don’t like making them. I like going out and purchasing them from somewhere else and then bringing them home to devour them, without the huge mess of having made them. For some ridiculous reason, I made a suggestion to Justin: “Hey babe. I have a great idea! For the rest of 2017, why don’t we try not eating out AT ALL except for with family or friends.” He agreed. So. Here we are. Not eating out. Only eating at home, or at someone else’s home, just not at a…

  • Photoshop, Podcasts and Partners.

SO MANY CHANGES will be happening soon. Friday night my sweet, darling husband spent the evening helping me recreate The RR with his mad coding skills. I honestly don’t even know what all he did. Mind you, it’s not completely finished, but it’s getting there. My husband will be joining me soon at The Rural Rebel with his pages Status Effect: Geek and The Critic’s Critic. There will be much talk of Blizzard, WoW, D&D, video games and movies. I can’t wait to see what all he comes up with. I have been learning how to use Photoshop so I can really take off (hopefully) with my photography business. It’s actually…

  • Revamp.

I am in the process of giving The Rural Rebel a face lift. I needed to change her up a little bit. So please, stick with me while I make up my mind! I promise, it will be worth it in the end.

  • (Un)Locked.

Justin had a secret date planned for us on Thursday night. I had zero idea what we would be doing. I kept asking questions, but nothing ever gave me enough of a clue. That man can keep a secret. Jeesh. We drove down Poyntz…parked in front of a tattoo parlor. I got a little bit excited. Then we ended up walking to a place called Locked. Holy cow. I WAS SO EXCITED!!! I have been wanting to go there for quite some time. For those of you who don’t know what Locked is…check out the website! http://www.lockedmanhattan.com/ Some of Justin’s co-workers and people he plays D&D with were already there…

  • Giving Up.

Two simple sentences. 2017 is summed up for me in two very simple sentences. I give up on so many things. A ridiculous amount of things. Small things, big things, it didn’t matter. If something started getting hard, or boring, or if I simply lost interest in it I would just toss it to the side. Running, 5Ks, painting, writing, knitting that blanket that is still sitting in the corner of the living room, putting effort into this and that. I think you get the picture. This year, oh this year things will be different. Everything won’t get tackled all at once, not like I used to try to do.…

  • 2017.

Oh darling 2017. It is so nice to see you. December 2016 ended with the Martin Family Christmas. Lots and lots of food, games, and children running around having a blast. Meredith helped teach me some things for my camera and I am now more prepared for some family and engagement sessions I have lined up for this month. Lacy gave me some great advice about life and marriage. Justin got very drunk and we decided to leave so the family could get to bed. My friend Kate was having a very pleasant NYE and then we kidnapped her (with her mother’s permission, since she is a wee bit younger).…

  • Minimalism and More.

I have loved the blog www.theminimalists.com for a long time. I love their way of life. Just recently Netflix made a documentary about them and that lifestyle. Tonight, I am watching it. One reason I never want to go Black Friday shopping; I never want to be a part of a herd of cattle. Seriously. Look at a video, or a picture of a store during Black Friday. They are a herd of cattle. Storming through small doors. Running into each other. It’s a mess and I want no part of it. “Why the hell are you so happy?” That question kills me. It’s such a strange concept. Happiness. It’s like an…
