• Make Your Bed.

Whenever I have a day that just feels out of control or anxious, there is one thing I can do that helps turn it around. I make my bed. I turn off my brain and focus on tucking back in the sheet, on smoothing out a comforter, on fluffing up a pillow. That one simple thing can help smooth my anxiety. Almost a “look at this proof that I can accomplish something”. You don’t have to have ten different pillows, super cute throws, nothing fancy. Turn off the Instagram envy and simply make the bed that you have. Plus, it feels so good when you crawl into a freshly made…

  • The ABC’s of Gaming.

Some friends of ours gifted us/Silas the most precious Christmas gift ever. The ABC’s of Gaming: An alphabet book for little gamers This is the cutest little book I’ve ever seen! My favorite page is actually at the very end where the little controller is tucked into bed! It makes my heart feel all fuzzy. Thanks Megan & Paul! I can’t wait for Silas to really enjoy this book!

  • Snow Days

Snow is coming in Kansas. Most likely. I mean, it’s about time. I have realized that since I have a child, snow days as I’ve known them no longer exist. Even if I wanted to work from home, I would still have to leave the house to take him to daycare. That’s stupid. These are the things no one tells you about having kids ….

  • I’m 30!

I turned 30 in March! I’ve been thinking a lot about that day for the past year. What I want my 30’s to be like, what I want to do, how this will impact the rest of my left, etc. The past couple years have really been about trying to lose weight, get fit, only eat good foods, exercise more, blah blah blah. But now that it’s actually here, I have a different list in mind. So here it is. The 10 items I want to spend the next year focusing on. Family. A cousin of mine died the weekend before my birthday, before he even turned 60. Helps put…

  • I Have A Stupid Question…

Okay, raise your hands ladies. How many of you have said this? I’m guessing most of you. I used to do that. I would probably say that before every question I asked. Then one day at work, about 2 years ago, my boss held a meeting for my department. You see, my department was all women and there was one thing she was done hearing. Can you guess what it was? That’s right: “I have a stupid question”. She was done. She never wanted to hear any of us say that again. Do you know why? You’re putting yourself down every time you say that. No boss wants a stupid…

  • Insanity: Week 2.

Day 8 (Monday) I didn’t get it done in the morning, but I got it done. We weighed in today and I was very happy to know that my body fat went down and my muscle percentage went up! Which means that this (I hope) is working. I have a completely different motivation this time, so i’m finding it much easier to do the workout everyday. I no longer want to just use Insanity to ‘get ripped’ and what nots. I just want to finish the program! That’s it. If I do end up losing weight and gaining muscle with this, that’s just a bonus. Day 9 (Tuesday) I am…
